Nectar's Recycled Shades

Repurposing Single Use Plastics into affordable eyewear.

CLEANER OCEANS, ONE PAIR AT A TIME

WE TURN PLASTIC INTO POLARIZED SUNGLASSES

Made to see, not be seen. This is how single-use plastic gets a second life as everyday eyewear.

STEP 01
Step 1: Single-use plastic is collected and sorted

SINGLE-USE PLASTIC

Bottles and containers get collected and sorted so they do not end up where they should not be.

STEP 02
Step 2: Plastic is cleaned and refined

PROCESS + REFINE

We clean it down, shred it up, then refine it into workable material that is ready for molding.

STEP 03
Step 3: Frames are molded

BUILD THE FRAMES

The material gets molded into frames made for everyday wear, not for sitting pretty.

STEP 04
Step 4: Polarized lenses are added and sunglasses are finished

ADD POLARIZED LENSES

Polarized lenses go in, glare goes out. Now you are ready for the road, the dock, the day.

This is not about putting on airs. It is about doing the work and making a better product while we are at it.

QUICK CARE

HOW TO CLEAN YOUR SUNGLASSES

Keep them crisp. Take care of the lenses and they will take care of your view.

WHY RECYCLED PLASTIC?

"In August of 2019, I took a bucket list surf trip to the Maldives. It was a magical experience and it seemed like a fake world of dreamy waves everywhere I looked. The moment that stuck with me the most, was seeing a white capped reef in person while snorkeling one afternoon. Nothing was thriving like I had imagined. The captain of the boat said that this same reef was fully alive 10-15 years ago and now, it was completely dead. This hit me to my core. I knew I had to figure out a way for our business to produce products more sustainable for our oceans and the environment.

My journey to produce products that are fully sustainable started as soon as I got back from the trip. After a year of research and product development, I am proud that 90% of our product lines are now produced using fully recycled and sustainable materials. The ocean was my first love and I feel obligated to protect it. This is just the beginning of a life long journey."

Why It Matters

Plastic pollution is one of the biggest environmental threats of our time. Here’s what we’re up against:

  • 1 million plastic bottles are bought every minute.
  • 91% of plastic is never recycled.
  • Every single minute, one truckload of plastic is dumped into the ocean, that’s 1,440 truckloads every day.
  • there could be more plastic than fish in the ocean.
  • 40 pounds of microplastics in their lifetime.

THE SAD TRUTHS

PLASTIC IS EVERYWHERE. INCLUDING PLACES IT HAS NO BUSINESS BEING.

We are not here to guilt-trip you. We are here to be real about it, then do something useful with that reality.

IT COMES BACK

Sea life consumes our plastics, and then we eat the sea life.
